Mother God Hypothesis - Book

Summary and Contents

If God is a God of love, why do we live in a world of suffering? Atheists say the answer is simple: there is no God. Religious believers struggle to explain it. In The Mother God Hypothesis, William Bond offers a radical third possibility — one that draws on quantum physics, ancient archaeology, comparative mythology, and the fine-tuned universe theory to argue that the true nature of God is female. Bond traces the evidence for a Great Mother deity back through thousands of years of suppressed history — from the goddess figurines of prehistoric Europe to the sacrificial/saviour gods whose teachings of unconditional love kept reappearing across cultures, only to be distorted by patriarchal rulers. He examines how the Gaia hypothesis, quantum mechanics, and the extraordinary fine-tuning of universal constants all point toward a cosmic intelligence that is nurturing, creative, and maternal. At the heart of the book is a striking proposition: Earth is a school, designed by the Great Mother...

Chapter One - Love in a Unloving World

In the argument between atheism and religion over the existence of God, the atheists ask two unanswerable questions that religious people have no reply. They are: 1 If God created the universe; then who or what created God? 2 If God is a God of love, as claimed by Jesus in the Bible; then why do we live in a world of suffering? Religious people have no clear answer to both of these questions, but of course atheists do. As they will claim that there is no God and the universe was created 13.8 billion years ago in the Big Bang. When the universe exploded out of nothing. They also claim that life on Earth was created by a process of evolution. Which forces different species to compete against each other, to survive. So it’s the struggle to survive that causes so much of our suffering. While pain, fear, and hunger are simply warning signs to protect our bodies from injury or death. Although most atheists will admit that neither the Big Bang theory and the theory of evolution doesn’t actual...

Chapter Two - Atheism v Religion

In the debated about whether there is a God or not, atheists have relied on science to support their ideas, but this has proven to be a double-edged sword. Because science can be used to both disprove and prove the existence of God. Before the scientific revolution, atheists were few in number because they had no real alternative to the belief that God created the world. Then in the 17th century Isaac Newton formulated his three laws of motion. Through these laws he was able to show how the planets moved around the Sun and not by the, “hand of God” as previously thought, but by scientific and mathematical laws. This proved to be a big boost to atheism. The irony of this; is that Newton was no atheists, he was a committed Christian and wrote more about theology in his lifetime, than he did about science. He even dabbled in alchemy. But his three laws of motion, were used by atheists to try and prove God didn’t exist. Where they claimed that the workings of the universe could all b...
